A downloadable eulogy for Windows and macOS

Backwater Eulogy is a stream of consciousness, autobiographical exploration of loss and the double-sided nature of grief. Told as a linear narrative, there are no choices, and there are no alternate endings. Sit and stay for a moment, before moving on.

Taking the form of a short visual novel, this is a short story of sorts about grief, moving on, and life in the rural Midwest. As a "kinetic novel" there are no alternative routes or choices- just one storyline to follow to its inevitable conclusion. Placing an emphasis on a small, curated experience, it is best experienced in one sitting.

Features:

  • 2000+ words (10-15 minute run time)
  • 10+ panels of highly rendered, hand-pixeled scenery
  • Hand-animated elements

I'm glad I got a chance to play through this. Your pixel art is gorgeous and so atmospheric; it pairs great with such a personal story. Thank you for taking the time to make it.

Thank you for this. I feel less alone.

teared up a bit at this one, I think this is really all I could ask for out of making this. I'm glad it helped you, and I hope you get to heal.

Thanks for sharing this story.

thank you for spending some time with it~

Thanks for this. Short and moving.

Not sure if you care, but I'm guessing the Linux .sh version can be made to easily run with little trouble. Didn't work on my Ubuntu machine but it somehow runs natively on the Steam Deck without issue.

Wild! I'll take a look- if you'd asked me before I probably wouldn't have cared but lately making sure my work is tech accessible is more important to me than ever. I'm assuming it's easy enough since it's Ren'py.

Thanks for giving it your time, it means a lot that you took the time to comment.

I appreciate a Linux version as well!
